Kin Lane - Resume

Welcome to my professional portfolio and technology area. Because of the nature of my work, I often have a difficult time utilizing a traditional Kin Lane resume format. I have opted to structure this online portfolio in a way to help navigate the wealth of projects I have worked on.

I am a 32 year old information technology specialist from Eugene, Oregon in the United States.

For sixteen years I have developed a career for myself dealing with computers and related technologies. I have focused my skills on programming and database development rather than on hardware.

I began my programming career while still in high school. During computer courses in school I was referred for a job with a small company, Mt. Rose Software, that developed Cobol database applications for about 50% of the school districts in the State of Oregon. I was referred as the first selection for the position by my computer teacher. Thanks Mr. Smith! While with Mt. Rose Software I developed a range of administrative applications utilizing traditional Cobol, and while I was there I assisted the company in making a transition from Cobol to FoxPro.

More recently I have focused my energies on developing database driven web-based applications focusing on e-commerce and customer relationship management systems. I currently own my own company which develops web applications utilizing the Microsoft .Net platform with SQL Server 2000.

A portion of my career has been focused on assisting non-profit organizations to better utilize technology and the Internet to achieve their goals. This has included working with environmental activists, food safety issues, women's rights, and other socially progressive organizations.

I am happily married to my wife and business partner Ishbel, and have two children; Jaden who is ten years old and Kaia who is four. We currently reside in Eugene , Oregon where we enjoy the slow pace of a small city while taking advantage of the unique mix of technology businesses, micro entrepreneurs and non-profit organizations.
